Purpose built and first used as the home of Barton Transport Limited (Bartons) from 1913, The Garage was the official base of a family firm that went on to become, for a time, the largest independent bus operator in Western Europe.

After bus operations were sold in 1989, The Garage has been used in a number of different ways. Most recently, following the unexpected success of Bartons’ Centenary Celebrations in 2008, the firm experimented with finding artistic uses for the remaining garages.

Over the last decade The Garage has hosted Warehouse Parties, Beer Festivals, Indoor and Drive in Cinemas, Modern Art Exhibitions, Food Festivals, Stand-Up Comedy, Silent Discos, Music Festivals, and artisan Markets.

Every month, The Garage plays host to a core range of pop-up events that are bringing tens of thousands of people together from all around the Midlands.

Experience award-winning international cuisine and live music at the Street Food Smoke Up, ditch London and instead spend Sunday exploring one of our wonderful independent markets, or enjoy a night of live stand-up at our monthly comedy shows.

From Budapest-themed bars to Bavarian beer halls, The Garage is transformed during our annual exclusives and pop-up events.
